HARRISON, N.J. (April 19, 2021) - NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it has renewed its corporate partnership with Saker ShopRites for two years. One of the original team sponsors of the club, Saker ShopRites is now entering the 11th year of the partnership.
“We are really grateful for the enduring support of Saker ShopRites, who have been with the Club since the beginning,” said Gotham FC CFO Mary Smoot. “The fact they’ve leveled up with us these next two seasons to provide more exciting fan elements is a bonus.”
The longest-running partner of the Club, Saker ShopRites has been a corporate partner of Gotham FC, formerly Sky Blue FC, in each of its previous ten professional seasons. Saker ShopRites will continue to present the Player of the Match award each match to the Gotham FC player who had the biggest impact on the match. New for 2021 and 2022 is the introduction of the Saker ShopRites Lucky Fan honoree in which one lucky Gotham FC fan will win a $100 Saker ShopRites gift card. The Lucky Fan activation will occur in both home and away matches with social media selecting the winner on away matches.
“Having the enduring support of Saker ShopRites all these years through all the iterations of this club has been tremendous,” stated Gotham FC General Manager Alyse LaHue. “Our fans have come to know and love the Saker ShopRites halftime kick, so we’ve found ways to innovate with new elements out of necessity due to social distancing. We look forward to engaging and awarding our Lucky Fans each game!”
Saker ShopRites owns and operates 31 supermarkets in New Jersey, as well as Dearborn Market in Holmdel. They are also very active in the local community and have significant involvement with many different philanthropic organizations.
