Ifeoma Onumonu Earns First Call Up for Nigeria Women’s National Team

HARRISON, N.J. (June 9, 2021) – NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Ifeoma Onumonu has been called up to the Nigeria Women’s National Team training camp ahead of three international friendly matches that are part of U.S. Soccer’s Summer Series presented by AT&T 5G.

Nigeria takes on Jamaica on Thursday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. ET followed by Portugal on Sunday, June 13 at 8:30 p.m ET. Both matches will be played at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas and fans will be able to follow the action live on ussoccer.com. Nigeria rounds out its final match of the Summer Series against the U.S. on Wednesday, June 16 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas at 9:00 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast on ESPN2.

This marks Onumonu’s first call up for the Nigeria Women National Team. She has previously appeared for the U23 U.S Women’s National Team. Onumonu has started two of Gotham FC’s four 2021 regular season matches so far and scored her first regular season goal against OL Reign last Saturday.
