HARRISON, N.J. - NJ/NY Gotham FC comes home to host Angel City FC in a special Tackle Kids Cancer Night presented by Hackensack Meridian Health. The NJ/NY side will look to flip the switch against their visitors from Los Angeles and create some momentum going into the home stretch of the NWSL season. The match is set to kick-off at 5:00 p.m. ET.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This is Gotham FC’s second-ever matchup against Angel City FC. Their first clash resulted in a 1-0 win courtesy of a Ifeoma Onumonu strike in the 57th minute to send the visitors home with a victory. Currently sitting at 12th in the table, Gotham FC hopes to sweep the season series in the East v. West battle.

WORKING TOWARDS SUCCESS

After a frustrating loss to the Orlando Pride at Subaru Park in Philadelphia, Midfielder Kristie Mewis commented on how the team is working its way towards more on-field success. “We’re struggling a bit to get to the final product…once we get that, we can be a really dangerous team. We’re just going to keep working this week and we just have to keep going,” remarked Mewis. As an attacking midfielder and leader of the Gotham FC attack, Mewis will look to create a spark against Angel City.

PURCE RETURNS

Gotham FC’s leading scorer, Midge Purce, will return to the lineup after she served a one-game suspension against Orlando. With three goals and two assists on the season, Purce’s return is welcome against an Angel City team that has allowed 17 goals against this season.
