HARRISON, N.J. – NJ/NY Gotham FC travel south to WakeMed Soccer Park to take on the North Carolina Courage in their final away match of the 2022 NWSL season. After dropping a 1-0 tilt to OL Reign on Wednesday, Gotham FC hopes this quick turnaround will provide positive results. Kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M. ET.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

It’s time for Gotham FC to play spoiler. As they NJ/NY side is eliminated from playoff contention, they will now assume the role of agents of chaos. North Carolina enters Saturday’s match clawing at the final NWSL playoff spot, currently occupied by the Chicago Red Stars. With only one game to make up ground after this match, a loss to Gotham FC would be devastating to the Courage’s playoff aspirations. Looking to finish the season on the right note, Gotham FC would love to shake up the standings with a victory.

ROAD WARRIORS

With Saturday’s match being Gotham FC’s last time away from the confines of Red Bull Arena this season, the goal will be to replicate the success they’ve had this year as the away side. Kicking off the 2022 campaign on the road against the Orlando Pride, Gotham FC started the season with a bang, putting on a masterclass 3-0 victory in front of the Exploria Stadium faithful. Another highlight away from home was in the inaugural East vs. West Coast clash against Angel City FC. Ifeaoma Onumonu proved to be the difference at Banc of California stadium in Los Angeles, sending Gotham FC out in style with a 1-0 win. The story remained the same in Louisville in July, which saw newcomer Taylor Smith seal a 2-1 win against Racing Louisville. In a year that fell short of expectations, the NJ/NY side has never backed away from a challenge and hope to replicate their road success one last time.

SEPTEMBER SERIES

This will be the second and final time these two teams battle this season. The first meeting just a couple of weeks ago at Red Bull Arena went in favor of the away side, a storyline that Gotham FC will look to uphold. North Carolina escaped New Jersey with a 1-0 victory courtesy of an 81st minute tally from Fuka Nagano.

ONE LAST TIME

NJ/NY Gotham FC returns home to Red Bull Arena on October 1st for Fan Appreciation Night against the Portland Thorns. With a focus on staying positive and preparing for next season, Gotham FC will look to treat the home supporters to a final win to cap the season.
