HARRISON, N.J.  – NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Ifeoma Onumonu has been called up to the Nigeria Women’s National Team for their international friendly against Japan. 

Onumonu will be on the roster as Nigeria plays Japan on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Noevir Stadium in Kobe, Japan. For the Nigeria Women’s National Team, Onumonu previously participated in the second round of the Women’s African Cup of Nations qualifying in February, 2022 and was on the roster for three international friendly matches that were part of U.S. Soccer’s Summer Series in 2021. 

A native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Onumonu appeared for the U-23 U.S. Women’s National Team earlier in her career. 

Onumonu has started 35 games for Gotham FC over the last two seasons. The 28-year-old forward was acquired by Gotham FC in a trade with OL Reign in January, 2020.
