PROFESSIONAL

2022: Kawasumi appeared in 20 matches, scoring one goal in the season finale 3-3 tie with Portland Thorns (10/1). She also had one goal in her six appearances in the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup. 2021: Kawasumi played in 24 matches, making 19 starts. She posted one goal and four assists. 2020: Over her six appearances in the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, she scored one goal. 2019: Kawasumi was traded to Sky Blue FC in January 2019. During this season, she made one assist in her 19 appearances. 2016-18: In 2016 she signed with Seattle Reign FC. She scored nine goals and made 14 assists in her 48 appearances with the club. She was named NWSL Player of the Week in July 2016. 2014: Kawasumi was loaned to Seattle Reign FC. She was named two-time NWSL Player of the Week, 2014 NWSL Best XI. She also scored nine goals and had five assists in her 20 appearances with the club that season. 2008-16: Kawasumi was with INAC Kobe Leonessa in Japan’s Nadeshiko League during these years. In 2011 & 2013 she was named the Nadeshiko League MVP. She is a three-time Nadeshiko League Champion (2011, 2012, 2013), 2013 Nadeshiko League Cup Champion and a six-time Empress’s Cup Champion.

INTERNATIONAL

2018: Kawasumi was called back up to the Japan Women’s National Team following a two-year absence. 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Champion. 2015: She helped the team finish as runner-ups in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. 2012: Kawasumi scored her first Olympic goal and played in every match in the tournament. 2012 Olympic silver medal winner. 2011: Kawasumi scored her first international goal. She totaled six goals over her 13 appearances. During the semi-final match of the 2011 World Cup, Kawasumi scored two goals, which helped Japan win 3-1 and advance to the final match of the tournament. During the final match, she scored the equalizer goal and the match-winning goal in the 64th minute. Japan clinched the gold medal, making Kawasumi a 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion. 2009-10: She made a total of nine appearances over these two years. 2008: Kawasumi began playing for the Japan Women’s National Team.
