Gotham FC’s Jaelin Howell Called into U.S. Roster for Matches Against Spain

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Oct. 5, 2026) – Gotham FC midfielder Jaelin Howell has been called into U.S. Women’s National Team camp as an injury replacement, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced Monday afternoon.

Howell will join Gotham FC teammates Tierna Davidson and Rose Lavelle in representing the United States in matches against world champion Spain on Oct. 10 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. and Oct. 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa.

A member of Gotham FC’s leadership group, Howell has been her team’s most consistent performer, starting all 27 regular season matches and playing the full 90 minutes in all but five of them. The Colorado native recently surpassed the century NWSL appearances mark, with 110 games across five seasons in the league.

This year, Howell has two assists and ranks third in the NWSL in fouls drawn, interceptions and tackles won while playing a central role in the league’s top defense. The 26-year-old claimed her third major trophy in two years with Gotham FC this summer, playing all 90 minutes in the club’s 2-0 win over the Kansas City Current in the NWSL Challenge Cup.

The United States will open the two-match series against Spain on Oct. 10 at Audi Field (2:30 p.m. ET; TBS and HBO Max in English; Telemundo, Universo and Peacock in Spanish). The teams will meet again on Oct. 13 at Subaru Park (7 p.m. ET; TNT and HBO Max in English; Universo and Peacock in Spanish).

The matches will feature the top two teams in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, with Spain currently ranked No. 1 and the United States No. 2.
