One Month Out: Gotham FC Celebrates Pride on June 7

Festivities include appearances from RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Jan Sport, New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 7, 2025) - Gotham FC’s highly-anticipated annual Pride match is now just one month away. The celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community is set for June 7, when Gotham FC hosts the Kansas City Current at 1 p.m. ET at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

As Gotham FC honors, uplifts and celebrates Pride in a truly unforgettable way, highlights of the day’s activities include a special drag brunch, national anthem singer Jan Sport and New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart as the pregame torch lighter.

Prematch Drag Brunch

The celebration kicks off with a prematch drag brunch from 10:30-12:30 p.m. at CrossBar, located on the plaza level of Sports Illustrated Stadium at the North End between Gates B and C. Gotham FC will host New York-based queens Chelsea Piers and Mariyea to bring the energy and entertainment heading into the anticipated matchup. To attend, fans of all ages can purchase a Drag Brunch ticket package, which includes a brunch buffet and a drink ticket for any beverage. Packages begin at just $65, with more information on purchasing here.

National Anthem Performance by Jan Sport

From RuPaul’s Drag Race to the pitch, New York’s own Jan Sport will sing the national anthem before the game. The American drag queen and singer shot to international fame on Season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and placed seventh on the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Gotham FC fans will recognize the New Jersey native as the anthem singer from last year’s Pride festivities.

Torch Lighting by Breanna Stewart

Three-time WNBA champion and Olympic gold medalist Breanna Stewart will serve as the match’s Torch Lighter, igniting the start of Gotham’s quest for victory against the Current. A Syracuse native, Stewart is one of the most decorated players in basketball history, with two WNBA MVP awards, three FIBA World Cup trophies and four NCAA national championships. She guided the New York Liberty to the franchise’s first WNBA title in 2024 and co-founded the Unrivaled basketball league with Napheesa Collier.

Giveaways and More

Starting at 10:30 a.m., fans can enjoy an expanded Fan Fest, presented by CarMax, and receive exclusive giveaways, including Pride-inspired bandanas and fans with a Gotham twist. The club will also launch a limited-edition Pride merchandise capsule in collaboration with Brooklyn-based designer Willie Norris, with additional details to be announced soon.

Additional Gotham FC Pride Campaigns

Gotham FC’s dedication to advancing LGBTQIA+ rights through advocacy, education and collaboration with local organizations is exemplified as one of four core organizational pillars. The club’s social impact initiatives, aimed at furthering commitment and investment in surrounding New Jersey/New York communities, includes Pride 365, in which local organizations and Gotham supporters partner to champion the LGBTQIA+ community year-round through celebrations, events and fundraisers.

Continuing Gotham’s commitment from 2024, the club will amplify Cloud 9’s 2025 Prideraiser Campaign to raise funds for the Ali Forney Center, which protects LGBTQ+ young people from the harms of homelessness and empowers them with the tools needed to live independently. To support their campaign, fans can pledge any dollar amount per goal scored by Gotham during the month of June, with donations directed to the Ali Forney Center. Details on Cloud 9’s Prideraiser can be found here. For more information on the team’s continued programs and activations, visit GothamFC.com.
