NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League announced today that the team has signed forward Cameron Tucker out of Brigham Young University to a two-year contract with a third year option. Tucker was eligible for the 2021 NWSL Draft and opted to play an additional year at BYU that would eventually see the team advance to the 2021 NCAA College Cup Final against Florida State University. Gotham FC acquired her discovery rights earlier in the season.

“We are really excited to have Cameron join our squad here,” said Head Coach Scott Parkinson. “She fits our style perfectly and possesses the ability to affect the game with and without the ball. She enjoys the run and press as much as she does dribbling and scoring. We believe Cameron will add to our firepower up top and my staff and I can’t wait to get to work with her.”

A native of Highland, Utah, Tucker joins the professional ranks after an impressive collegiate career at BYU under longtime Head Coach Jennifer Rockwood. During her tenure, the 22-year-old forward logged 5,621 minutes in 99 total appearances and collected 43 goals and 31 assists.

Tucker turned in her most productive season in 2021 with 16 goals and 10 assists earning her multiple NCAA and conference honors including NCAA All-American, NCAA All-Tournament Team, WCC First Team, and NCAA West Region First Team. She notably scored the game winning goal against No. 1 seeded Virginia to advance the Cougars to the Elite 8 for the fourth time in school history.

Prior to BYU, Tucker was voted the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Utah Player of the Year in 2016 in addition to being named to the NSCAA All-American Team.

“Having the opportunity to play with Gotham FC is a dream come true,” said Tucker. “I am impressed with the reputation that Gotham FC has for their commitment to player development and team culture. I am excited to learn and to grow as a player and a person under the guidance of the coaches and my teammates. I can’t wait to get started, to work hard, and to make my new team family proud!”
