HARRISON, N.J. & CHICAGO – NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and CarMax, the nation’s largest buyer and seller of used cars, announced today a multi-year agreement to become the club’s exclusive auto retailer. The partnership comes in conjunction with an announcement that CarMax will serve as the Official Auto Retailer of the NWSL and presenting sponsor of the NWSL Shield.

As part of the agreement with Gotham FC, CarMax will serve as a presenting partner for the remainder of the 2022 season and be the title sponsor for Women’s Empowerment Night on July 31 when Gotham FC takes on the Houston Dash.

CarMax and Gotham will also collaborate on a content series titled, “On the Road with Gotham FC” and a fan engagement campaign entitled the #TheWaytheGameShouldBe, which will include enhanced gameday experiences. Some of these activations include an in-game premium seat upgrade, presenting pre-game fan fits and a women’s empowerment speaking series.

Earlier in 2022, Gotham FC unveiled CarMax as a jersey partner with logo placement on the right sleeve of all official club kits.

As title sponsor of the NWSL Shield, awarded to the club with the best record at the conclusion of the regular season, CarMax has committed to increasing the bonus pool awarded to the winning team. Beginning this season, the bonus provided by CarMax to the NWSL Shield winners will increase to $10,000 per player, up from $5,000 in previous years.

CarMax opened its first store in the New York metropolitan area last month in Edison, NJ. The used-car retailer will open additional stores in Wayne, NJ and Long Island, NY later this summer.

Originally named Sky Blue FC, the Club underwent a major rebrand in April 2021 and officially changed its name to NJ/NY Gotham FC.
