HARRISON, N.J.  – NJ/NY Gotham FC midfielder Kristie Mewis has been called up by the United States National Team for a pair of friendly matches in Europe in October.

Mewis and the U.S. National Team will meet England on Friday, Oct. 7 at Wembley Stadium in London (3 p.m. ET on FOX) and Spain on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at El Sadar Stadium in Pamplona (2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN). The match at Wembley is expected to be played before a capacity crowd of more than 80,000 fans and will mark the largest ever to watch the USA in a friendly match. It is also likely to be the second largest crowd to ever watch the USWNT in any match behind only the 90,185 fans who filled the Rose Bowl for the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.

Mewis has seven goals and four assists in 45 appearances with the U.S. National Team. She re-established herself on the USWNT in late 2020 and since then has more than doubled the number of caps accumulated in her previous stint with the team from 2012-2014. Mewis joined Gotham FC prior to the 2022 season and has started 16 regular season games and played a total of 1,388 minutes. She has two goals and two assists.

Gotham FC is back in action this Saturday, Oct. 1, when they host Portland Thorns FC in the final home game of the season. The kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. ET. Tickets for all home games are available by visiting  GothamFC.com/tickets
