Gotham FC’s Players Called Up for International Friendlies

Bruninha, Kelley O’Hara, and Lynn Williams Called-Up for International Friendlies

HARRISON, N.J. (Wednesday, September 13, 2023) – NJ/NY Gotham FC today confirmed that three of the club’s players have been called up to participate in international friendly matches for their respective countries. Defender Kelley O’Hara and forward Lynn Williams were named to the U.S Women’s National Team (USWNT) roster in addition to Gotham FC defender Bruninha earning the call-up from Brazil.

O’Hara and Williams will join the USWNT for its September training camp as well as a pair of friendlies in Cincinnati and Chicago. Over the 2023 NWSL season, O’Hara has appeared in 12 matches for the club, and her 79 appearances recently moved her up to third all-time in Gotham FC history. Williams ranks third in NWSL goals (7) this season and second in shots (50).

In August, Bruninha signed a contract extension with Gotham FC through the 2025 season. The Brazilian forward also became the youngest player to score for Gotham FC in an NWSL match (20 years, 11 months, 5 days) when she tallied on May 21 at OL Reign.

Representing New Jersey and New York, Gotham FC plays its home matches in the National Women’s Soccer League at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. The club, which rebranded as Gotham FC in 2021, is the longest operating women’s professional soccer club in the United States and has been part of the NWSL since the league launched in 2013. The team won the inaugural Women’s Professional Soccer championship in 2009. Most recently, Gotham FC advanced to the 2021 Challenge Cup Final – the club’s first-ever championship appearance in NWSL competition. Gotham FC, currently in third place in the NWSL standings and second in its UKG Challenge group, is poised for a strong finish to the season as it seeks to make the playoffs for the second time in the last three years.
