HARRISON, NJ (Wednesday, December 4, 2024) - NJ/NY Gotham FC announced today that midfielder Delanie Sheehan has departed the club to pursue opportunities in free agency.

“Thank you so much to the fans, teammates and coaches who made my time at Gotham so special,” said Sheehan.

With the club in 2024, the midfielder played in every regular-season game, recording 2,105 minutes, 25 starts and two goals. In the 2024 NWSL Playoffs, Sheehan dished out the game-winning assist in the quarterfinals against the Portland Thorns.

“Delanie is an amazing player, who has grown tremendously during her time with us at the club,” said Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West. “It has been a pleasure to work with Delanie and we wish her all the best in her next chapter. ”

Sheehan helped lead Gotham FC to its first NWSL Championship in 2023. In the 2023 NWSL Quarterfinal, she scored her first career goal to help the club to a 2-0 win over the North Carolina Courage. The midfielder started all playoff games en route to the Championship.

The Brentwood, California native was selected by the club with the 33rd overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft. In 2021, Sheehan was loaned to Paris FC in the Division I Arkema.
