Charlie Calamari is an athletic trainer for Gotham FC, joining the club in September 2024. In her role, she provides medical care to first-team players, including on-field emergency care, injury prevention, injury identification and daily athlete support.

Before arriving at Gotham FC, Calamari served as an assistant athletic trainer at Hofstra University from 2022 to 2024, working with women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse. She previously held athletic training roles with Aurora University, where she supported men’s soccer, women’s ice hockey and softball, and with the Long Island Rough Riders as a per diem athletic trainer.

Calamari holds athletic training licenses in New York and New Jersey and is dry needling certified. She earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science in Education from Elmira College.

Her professional philosophy centers on individualized care, believing no two injuries are identical and that effective treatment begins with understanding the whole athlete, not just their symptoms. She is particularly passionate about educating athletes and exploring innovative treatment methods.

A former women’s ice hockey player at SUNY Cortland, Calamari has won a championship at every stop in her career, including titles with Elmira College women’s hockey, Aurora University women’s hockey, Hofstra women’s soccer and Gotham FC’s 2025 NWSL championship team.

Originally from Barrington, Illinois, she enjoys supporting the growth of women’s and girls’ sports and is excited to contribute to Gotham FC’s continued development and success.
