Eugene Wentworth

Eugene Wentworth joined Gotham FC in March 2025 as the club’s mental performance coach, supporting athletes across the mental demands of elite sport. In his role, Wentworth works with players on areas including confidence, composure, commitment and control, while collaborating closely with the medical, performance and technical staffs to help create environments that foster mental toughness and sustainable high performance.

Wentworth brings extensive experience from his work as a mental performance consultant with the U.S. Army for six years and Kansas State University for five years. He holds a master’s degree in kinesiology and sport psychology from Miami University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maine, and is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.

A native of Damariscotta, Maine, Wentworth believes growth comes from embracing discomfort, curiosity and vulnerability. He is passionate about holistic player support and helping athletes creatively navigate the unique challenges of professional sport. Outside of soccer, Wentworth enjoys hiking, camping, exploring new cities and discovering local food cultures.
