
Lindsey Honkomp joined Gotham FC in March 2023 and serves as the club’s Athletic Trainer. In her role, she oversees emergent athlete care on and off the field, evaluates injuries, liaises with physicians and supports players through manual therapies, rehabilitation programs, return-to-play processes and overall physical preparation. She also manages workers’ compensation cases and helps ensure the team has consistent access to therapeutic interventions.
Before joining Gotham FC, Honkomp spent two years as the head athletic trainer at Warren Wilson College. She previously worked at Southern Illinois University as the athletic trainer for women’s soccer and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. She has six years of professional experience in athletic training and kinesiology with a focus on medical care for high-performance athletes.
Honkomp holds a Master of Science in Education in kinesiology, with concentrations in sports studies and psychology, from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training with a minor in sports psychology from Appalachian State University. She is a certified athletic trainer and a licensed athletic trainer, and holds dry needling certification and American Heart Association BLS certification.
Rooted in a philosophy of growth through challenge, Honkomp emphasizes communication, holistic support and seeing the full picture—personal and professional—behind every athlete and staff member. She values being a flexible, reliable presence for the team and is especially passionate about bringing humanity and connection into a high-performance environment.
A Raleigh, North Carolina, native, Honkomp enjoys hiking, biking, embroidery and crafting with found materials and reading thrillers on the porch with an iced coffee. She also collects antique spoons, a hobby that has grown into a collection of more than 200. She is most excited about the opportunity to work with top professionals at Gotham FC and to travel internationally with the club.
