Gotham FC’s Jess Carter Named to NWSL Best XI of the Month for March

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (April 3, 2026) - Jess Carter is making her presence felt from the back line. The Gotham FC defender has been named to the NWSL Best XI of the Month for March, presented by Amazon Prime, the league announced Friday.

Carter anchored a Gotham defense that allowed a league-best 0.50 goals per game through the opening month of the 2026 regular season, playing a key role in the club’s three shutouts in four games.

The England international recorded 11 tackles — the second-most among NWSL center backs — along with eight interceptions and seven headed clearances. She was also instrumental in possession, completing 221 of her 243 passing attempts for a 90.95% completion rate, the third-highest among qualifying defenders, according to Opta.

Carter has started all four of Gotham’s regular season matches this season, logging 333 minutes.

Gotham FC returns to action Saturday against the Kansas City Current in a rematch of the club’s historic upset in the 2025 NWSL Playoffs at CPKC Stadium. Following the match, Gotham will pause for the upcoming FIFA international break.
