HARRISON, NJ (Friday, September 29, 2023) – NJ/NY Gotham FC will host a Hispanic Heritage Night celebration at the club’s home match against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 1 at Red Bull Arena (6:30 p.m. ET, MSG Networks / Paramount+).
Hispanic Heritage Night will include vibrant influences of Hispanic culture from the moment fans arrive at the stadium throughout their entire matchday experience.
From 4-6 p.m., the festivities begin at the Gotham FC Fan Fest presented by CarMax located outside of Gate B. Highlights of Fan Fest include face painting, hair braiding, lawn games, and interactive activities – all set to an authentic soundtrack of music that represents the culture. Mariachi Loco de NY will serenade fans with classic mariachi music, while DJ Jaymie Perez provides a playlist of popular Spanish-language hits from yesterday and today.
As a part of the club’s Hispanic Heritage Night celebration, the national anthem will be performed by Camile - an Argentina-born, Brooklyn Based, multicultural influencer who fuses Latin Music with R&B, Pop, and Soul, and there will be a pre-game performance by Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and actress Nohemy in partnership with Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch Whisky and UnitedMasters.
Nohemy recently joined Gotham FC midfielder Sabrina Flores – a Mexican-Romanian-American player – for an episode of the original content series “Common Ground,” developed in collaboration with Gotham FC, the club’s official Scotch Whisky partner Johnnie Walker, and UnitedMasters. The episode explores the intersection of recording artists and professional women’s soccer players during a conversation on Hispanic culture, paving the way for others, pushing through the hard times, and believing in oneself. The two listened to Nohemy’s song “Curiosidad” and continued the discussion on true authenticity. Fans can watch “Common Ground on the Gotham FC YouTube channel.
On the field, Gotham FC ranks third in the standings (30 points) – just three points away from the top of the table. Houston is currently sitting outside the playoff picture in 10th place. However, the Dash could still be in contention of earning the last spot to the postseason.
Sunday’s match will be the second and final time the two clubs will square off this season. In June, two sides played to a 1-1 draw after Gotham FC forward Lynn Williams buried a penalty in the 53rd minute to even the scoreline and to pick up a point on the road.
