Gotham FC to Host AANHPI Heritage Celebration on Saturday

HARRISON, NJ (May 3, 2024) - NJ/NY Gotham FC today announced that on Saturday, May 4, the club will host a celebration to honor Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities by infusing elements of culture throughout this matchday experience during AANHPI Heritage Month. The festivities will include special live performances, cuisines, and the National Anthem performed by Broadway star Arielle Jacobs – all before Gotham FC kicks off against the NC Courage at Red Bull Arena (7:30 p.m. ET, ion).  
 
Beginning at 4 p.m. ET, the Gotham FC Fan Fest presented by CarMax will open with a full slate of experiential offerings and programming. Onsite food trucks will feature Ms. Fu’s, providing Asian home-cooked meals on wheels, as well as Yumbro, with Filipino-Hawaiian fusion cuisine.  
 
At 5:30 p.m., fans will be treated to a special live performance from the IMGE Dance Company, an American company rooted in Indian Classical, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance. Then, Prior to kickoff at 7:14 p.m., the group will provide a second pregame performance on the field to incorporate elements of the AANHPI celebration into the matchday experience 
 
Following the on-field selection from IMGE Dance Company, best-selling author and Founder of Girls Who Code Reshma Saujani will serve as the honorary Gotham FC Torchbearer. During this Gotham FC home tradition, Saujani will join members of the community and the club’s passionate supporters group for the ceremonial pregame lighting of an eight-foot tall torch that ignites with a live flame before kickoff.
